Soft Landing
Dec. 5th, 2018 11:52 pmBeing here makes me feel vaguely teenaged again, trawling through Live Journal after the Great Plagiarism Debacle of FictionPress and trying to find a community for my original work. Now I'm here after the Tumblr Purge (honestly why is it that I find myself on journalling sites only after a bigger website crashes due to someone's wilful incompetence?) and here's hoping I actually find a way to find a community, especially because Pillowfort is not an option at present and might not be for the foreseeable future.
It's a little crappy, to say the least. Tumblr was my fallback space for the past 8 years, growing from somewhere I went to waste time when I didn't want to do my homework and only look at Harry Potter stuff, to a place where I learned so much about people and the news and all sorts of interesting things I might've never ever had the good fortune of being exposed to. I got to watch a bunch of cool stuff, listen to interesting podcasts, read new books, all because it was a hot mess of a thousand communities in a single trash pile, and I've enjoyed every second of it.
It's a sad turn of events that's leaving me uncertain about my personal future if the site crashes (without a place to decompress, life becomes that much harder to handle). But we'll see how it goes.
